One week to respond / book

Today is the beginning of the last week that our guests have to book a hotel room included in the hotel block for the cheaper price.

I will be getting another report on the hotel block this Fri and then I can send some reminder emails. Be for warned that The Hilton doesn't have any more available rooms on the weekend of our wedding. If our extra rooms get put back into the main inventory then the price increases by $60-70 per night. So lets get booking (if you have not already).

Also lets all bug those that we know have not RSVP'd yet. Or if you are reading this and have not please do. It is very easy and you can do it just to the right of this post. The big RED button.

So here is it OCT 6th is the hard deadline for everything needed from our guests. Once we get the numbers in place I can finish a lot of details that can only be done once that happens.

Red Black and White Forest

So we have a forest of topiaries growing on our kitchen counter. Ill post a picture tonight if I can remember, but they are turning out great! I got about 10 finished last night. Only a couple more to go then touch up work and finishing touches. We have to still get some fake moss stuff and put it on the base, and we need to buy one more dowel rod, paint it, and cut it before we can make the final two. Almost done though, and they are looking awesome and dramatic. Just the way Jeni and I wanted. :D
In other news we are starting to hit the second round of payments for vendors. Ive got them all scheduled on the calendar to be paid and I think we are pretty well prepared for them. Jeni has been really good at keeping everything together and well organized, so it was easy for me to schedule the payments in my calendar. I'm feeling pretty well prepared and calm going into this last month of preparation: Thanks Jeni for being so awesome and on top of things. If you ask Jeni ... she is not feeling so calm, but I think thats one reason why we work well together. She keeps us moving, and I keep us grounded. In the sports car of our wedding planning, she's the engine, and I am the spoiler, and maybe the speedometer.

Beautiful for two days?

Last Saturday was a day full of wedding tasks and to dos. Dan and I approached the day with excitement and hope that we could get it all done in a reasonable time.

The first part of the day was "MAKE JENI BEAUTIFUL" when I had my hair and make-up trials at the salon that I will be using the day of the wedding. This appointment made me a little nervous. Though after a second in the chair with Jeana my hair stylist the nerves melted away. She is so understanding and listens and is able to apply that to the most beautiful hair style I could imagine. All I wanted was a low set bun on the nape of my neck and fullness was key. My hair is so thin and fine and so I thought this would be a challenge. Not for Jeana. While she was styling my hair into a chignon (the hair stylist name for my description) she kept commenting on how it was going and made me feel very comfortable. At points when she asked my opinion she took my thoughts to heart and made the style fit what I needed. When she was finished she turned me around and let me see her masterpiece. It blew my mind. I was so thrilled with how it turned out and once we placed the veil on my head I knew then that I was the BRIDE. It all came together in one cohesive unit and all I needed was to get some make-up on.

The make-up appointment went well over all. I didn't really know what I wanted except to be natural and play on the features of my face and not to over accentuate and cake on the make-up. She began with very light foundation and put on concealer. From there she did a bunch of little things that I can not really remember the order. There was eyeliner, mascara, eye shadow and some lip gloss. The best part of the make-up session was when Dan and Shannon arrived. They were so pleasantly surprised at how wonderful I looked. Then shortly after I was handed the mirror. I really liked what I saw.

I am so glad that I no longer have to worry about what I am going to do for hair and make-up. I wish the rest of the wedding planning was that easy. I do have to give a big shout-out to Shannon and Becky (my BMs) for recommending such a great salon. I know this was a good choice.

Now for the sad part. I didn't get to see my dress. The alteration person was taking care of her daughter who was having medical issues. Nevertheless we schedule my second fitting and final fitting for Oct 9th and the 16th. So soon I will get to see my dress. Again I'm sure the nerves will come back.

So a good first part of Sat. Stay tuned to the upcoming posts to hear about what else Dan and I got done.

Getting this done...slowly

Dan and I spent a lot of time on Saturday getting decor supplies and making progress on some final wedding details. The highlight of the shopping trip had to be the ton of pebbles that Dan and I picked up from Menard's. It wasn't really a ton but 0.5 Cu feet and that in weight... not sure. Dan's arms can probably answer that better than I. The funniest thing about these pebbles is they were originally $2.00 but we got them on sale for $1.75. Woot that extra $.25 will come in handy and those rocks will go down as one of the best deals ever.

So tonight is the night to determine if the topiary idea will work. We just have this grand scheme in our heads and now that we have the pebbles on hand we can test some out. I'm hoping it works out cuz my head is too tired to figure out something else to do instead.

One other super cool decor Dan and I made this weekend was cloth roses. These we attached to a stem and put in a vase. They look so real and awesome. As I have been saying all weekend I was the creative mind behind them with Dan being the innovative one. We work well as a team and get this stuff done.

In other news this weekend Dan and I will be heading to Madison this weekend to get a few things accomplished. We will be turning in our rehearsal dinner forms (after Dan sees the restaurant) and on Sat I have my next fitting and hair / makeup trial. Such a busy weekend ahead but I'm excited to see my dress again. I believe it should be strapless and perhaps have the back cut out. Exciting and scary at the same time. Should be fun though.

Take a Dive in our Ball Pit

Our apartment is over run by pomander balls and the supplies used to make them. I do have to say that for now we are done with all 26 (ish) balls. All we have left to do is construct the topiaries which we will have to wait for a little bit to get started on.

We did make a topiary to see how it looked and I have to say it looks AWESOME!!!!! I am so glad that the pomanders have turned out so well. Now I have the difficult task of tying all the decor into one cohesive look. I am thinking this will be pretty difficult until I can get a final topiary and some time to play around with candles and the like.

Over time this will fall into place and if not well who even looks at the decorations anyway. We all know they are looking at Dan and I. :)

Hello September

September is finally here. Can you believe we have a little less than 2 months to go? It is getting much closer by the day and I feel like I can not keep up with the to do list. So here is the list at this time.

Decor: I really really really want to get this finished by the end of the month. This means to put the topiaries together and see if they will work well. I am worried that they will be too top heavy so we have a challenge to weigh them down. Hopefully we can get it figured out so that I can finally check the decor off my list. Also in this category are finishing the unity candle and getting an idea for the table to hold the flower arrangements and unity candle that looks nice but not too much in the way of everything.

Vows: This is a big one too. Dan and I have to both finish our vows and get them done and sent to the officiant. Then I have practice them as much as possible and make sure that they are beautiful. I'm not too worried about these as I'm sure one night I will get the inspiration I need and just write it all out. Hopefully Dan will have the same luck.

Wedding Day schedule: I have to plan out the days schedule. This I have started and only need to add a few things after we discuss it with the photographer. Of course once I have a schedule everything will find a way to get off balance and be behind. As my coordinator says "Even if you plan to do something at a certain time, it will be delayed so be prepared to go with the flow." For anyone in my family (especially my Mom) if its not 5 mins early it is considered late. So this word of advice I will have to pay attention to. Hopefully I will be so caught up in the day that it won't really matter.

Song List: We need to finish this and get it off to the DJ. He and I discussed some timing back in July and Oct is the month that this should be finished. So I'm not too worried about this one. Pretty much any music played will be fun and it's just a matter of getting the specific songs I want.

Hair Trial: I had a simple trial a long time ago however this time will be with my day of stylist. Hopefully I can have some Styrofoam placed into my hair to obtain the full bun I so desire. After that I should be able to try out my makeup setup which I truly have no idea about but should work out once I talk to an expert.

Dress fitting: I am super nervous about the dress. Since there is a lot of work to be done I am nervous it is getting so close to the wedding to have this still on the list. With schedules and such we are cutting it closer than I would feel comfortable with but I'm sure it will work out. I have confidence in my alterations lady and only hope that removing the straps was a good idea.

RSVP's and such: With collecting RSVP's it allows us to finalize venue plans and getting tables set. We are planning to have place cards and so now we can begin to make these.

Get everyone on the same page: This is probably the hardest part. I have to coordinate vendors, wedding party, family and all to have a seamless operation. Since primarily the guests are from out of town I also have to make sure they have all the information that they need. To me Madison is an easy place to get around however I did live there for 5 years. So this will be on my perpetual list so that I can stay focused.

Overall there are a lot of things on my to do list and pretty soon it will be getting smaller. I just hope I don't forget anything crucial and luckily I am still 2 months or so away. Once we get much close the squeeze will be even tighter.
