So we've started to try to plan the ceremony. The Officiant gave us this big packet to go over and go through. He eventually will be the one to write the ceremony, but he is also very enthusiastic about matching the ceremony to fit our personalities. This is both a good and a bad thing. It is good in that it should be a fun ceremony which we are happy with and which fits with the wedding theme and us as a whole, but also bad in that we have to do a lot of work to help design the ceremony so that he can take that as input.
The packet he gave us consists of a bunch of samples of ceremony scripts grouped into parts of the ceremony. The goal is to go through that packet and pick out which pieces best fit what we want for the ceremony and make notes as to what we like / dislike of the choices given. With that information he will craft us a ceremony which hopefully matches what we want, but is also unique to us and not just the pieces in the packet stuck together. He says he writes an original ceremony for everyone he marries.
In our normal organized way, I've made up a spreadsheet for us to mark our selections and comments throughout the workbook. Hopefully this allows us both a place to try and decide how our ceremony will go.
Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I don't really have an excuse, but hi again and thanks for reading!
Sounds like you and Dan will definitely be putting your own stamp on the whole affair. That is what a wedding should be about, not following some pre-designed plan to suit other people. I know it is a lot more work, but make it your own, and you will have something worth remembering and retelling.
