During a teleconference conducted in my laboratory today Dan and I were able to determine the best solution with Monona Terrace in regards to our wedding cake.
We will still be having cheesecake though it MUST be provided by Monona Terrace. Luckily, the catering staffer that we talked to said customization is available. Also we were given a quote for the toppings bar. While the overall cost is quite significant to that of Grace's Cheesecakes this is really our only alternative.
The staffer also reassured me that their cheesecakes can be displayed on risers on the cake table. I was really concerned that we might not have a cake on display. How can you cut the cake when it is in the kitchen cut into pieces? I'm only hoping that they will allow the cakes on display to be left uncut. I don't think they would look too nice with slices all in them.
So now the tedious process of deciding how to make them look nice. I'm thinking of have either rose petals surrounding the cake or little flower bud adornments on top. I still want to stick with the minimalist theme and go with something simple. Luckily, I have a while for that and I guess its easier to not work with another outside vendor.
I'm glad that over the course of a few mins. all the confusion and frustration was redirected into realizing the possibilities and benefits of having Monona Terrace make our cake. Truly a piece of cake...hehe.
